The names of the Madrid luthiers Arcángel Fernández and his teacher, the legendary luthier Manuel Barbero, are inextricably linked. But not only because Fernández was Barbero’s only student and took charge of his workshop, but also because Fernández stuck to Barbero’s design, finish and construction, from the wood he used and the bracing construction, to the shape of the headstock and rosette patterns.
