INFORMATION

Dobro’s ´single-cone´ resonator guitars were produced by John Dopyera and were a great success from 1928. George Beauchamp, the former business partner of Dopyera, decided to produce single-cone-resonator guitars for National using the Dopyera design.
The first instrument with this resonator was the famous National Style O. The principle on which the design was based was very similar to what was used for the Tricon models. The difference was in the bridge that was attached to a single 24 cm / 9.4inch cone.
These National resonators are also known as ‘Biscuit Bridge’. The size of the single cone provided a larger volume, but also a more raw sound.
