Supersound Short-Scale Standard – United Kingdom – 1958

TYPE

Electric Solid Body Single cutaway guitar

FEATURES

Pine body, glued mahogany neck

Rosewood fretboard

Two Super Sound Hi-Fi single-coil pickups

INFORMATION

Supersound used pine for the Standard’s body, of which the cutaway had a larger and less rounded silhouette than that of the Ike Isaacs model. The end result was therefore a somewhat stocky instrument although the contours of the front and back were maintained in some of the following Burns models. The Standard had two Hi-Fi single-coil pickups, and the rest of the hardware was home-made, such as the simple bridge and simple tailpiece.
Few copies were produced before Jim Burns and Alan Wootton went their separate ways. It is therefore a special instrument of great historical value.
