INFORMATION

In 1925, the Lyon & Healy’s workshop, instrument makers based in Chicago, manufactured this unusual bell-shaped stringed instrument. It was sold under the Washburn brand and serialized.
The bell guitar is largely made of mahogany and has a spruce top. It has a classical style slotted headstock, a fixed standard bridge and is simply decorated around the soundhole. However, the bottom of the top is decorated all around with an intricate floral pattern in gold leaf. The bell-shaped guitar was very pricey at $ 165.
