INFORMATION

The Rapier, an electric solid body, debuted in 1958 and remained in production through the late 1970s.
The Rapier Deluxe (1958-1959) had an almost symmetrical body and pointed forward to the characteristic shape of the Strat. Launched in 1963, the Rapier 33 had heavy, angled pickups and was finished with red paint up to the headstock. Some guitars had a white finish that tended to become creamy with age. The polyester of these guitars would often show cracks. Reg Watkins made about 10 percent of the Rapiers especially for left-handers.
